Friday Fun

I know can you believe it….  I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve written either.  Where did the summer go?  We have been so busy on our little semi homestead and with work that I’ve neglected my blog.  The thing is that I really really love blogging, even though I know I’m not that good at it.  But, I’m looking forward to a long slow fall and winter and looking forward to getting back here.

Friday Fun…. The Z Man is hunting today, and he is a very good hunter so I’m expecting to come home to a surprise that will keep me busy this weekend.  Yes, we process our own venison.  I like knowing that the deer that’s in our freezer is the deer that the Z Man brought home.  Plus it saves around $100 and that’s a great thing.

Tonight is homemade pizza night.  I think we’ll go with just cheese and pepperoni because that’s what I have on hand.

I have a busy to do list this weekend…  process venison, meal plan for next week, I need to rake up all the pine needles and put them in storage for the chicken house for later this winter, clean my car especially the windows, start getting the house ready for the holidays and for the kids to come home for Christmas….    Oh, how I can’t wait to see my kids and beautiful granddaughter!!!  Lots and lots to do.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

What My Parents Gave Me For Easter….

I remember very well as a child my Mother taking us shopping for our Easter dresses and shoes.  It was always so exciting because it wasn’t something we did all the time.  It was a very special occasion to go buy a new anything.

I often tell people that my parents did not give me everything I ever wanted.  But they always gave me everything I ever needed.    I can’t even imagine trying to raise five kids, but they did it and I think they did it well!

My parents knew exactly what I needed…

What they gave me was the way to a relationship with GOD.  They took me to church and showed me the way to believe and the way to pray.   I’m so blessed that I had / have parents that cared enough to do that for me.  They took the time out of their busy lives to provide me the way to a relationship with GOD.  They gave me a place to come home.

I always loved going to church, but Easter Sunday was the best!

It was the most special Sunday in our new shoes and new dresses.  I remember everyone being so happy and in good spirits, wearing beautiful flower corsage and bright colored hats.

I remember shaking hands and the smiles on everyone’s faces.

As a child I thought they were just excited about the Easter egg hunt, like I was.

But when I accepted the Lord as my Savior and I developed my relationship with GOD I figured out what it was.   I figured out why everyone is SO happy on Easter.

The rejoicing is because JESUS IS ALIVE!

GOD gave his only SON to die on the cross for me.  Me the sinner.  Just because he loves me.  He guaranteed me everlasting life and love by his side for believing in him and accepting him as my savior.

John 3:16   For GOD so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever believeth in him shall not parish but have everlasting life.

That’s what my Parents gave me for Easter.

I hope you and your loved ones have a beautiful weekend and a very Happy Easter.

Thank You GOD For Loving Us!

Friday Fun… Oh My!

I hope you’ve had a good week.

Here in Virginia we did have a warm weather week, however the rain and cooler temperatures are coming back in for the weekend and next week.    YAY,  NOT!!!

This weeks warmer weather did allow for some of the flowers to pop out, like these.

And, the warmer weather got the ZMan in the garden planting radishes, cauliflower and beets.

This weekend we are going to hopefully get our potatoes and cabbages planted.

I’ll also do a bit of spring cleaning this weekend.  Windows, baseboards and floors… oh my!

Last Friday for our pizza night I attempted a deep dish pizza that turned out pretty darn good.

Now, if I’m being honest the motivation behind this pizza was simply that I wanted to use my toaster oven instead of the conventional stove oven to cook it.

Save electricity = save money.

But hey, I’m glad my frugal ways kicked in because it was one of our best homemade pizzas ever!

It was so good, we’ll be having it again tonight.

I hope you have a fun Friday and a lovely weekend!

Y’all Take Care!

PS:  After noticing my stove top in yesterday’s post picture,  I can see that I need to “scrub” it this weekend too.  Oh My 😉
